Kayaking in the Archipelago

Day 1-2: The Deep Quiet of Idöborg

The transition from the city’s hum to the rhythm of the paddle was instantaneous. Kayaking through the southern reaches of the archipelago, the world gradually stripped back to the basics: water, sky, and silence.

The highlight was reaching the waters around Idöborg. There is a specific kind of stillness there that feels ancient. We spent our time gliding through glass-like inlets, the only sound being the drip of water from our blades. But the real magic happened once we docked. The wood-fired sauna at Idöborg is nothing short of transformative—sitting there, looking out over the horizon as the heat soaked into our tired muscles, followed by a cold plunge in the Baltic, felt like a total reset. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Fresh, seasonal, and served with such heart that it turned a simple meal into a celebration of the islands.

Day 3: The Grand Finale at Smådalarö Gård

After three days on the water, pulling up to Smådalarö Gård was the perfect "soft landing" back into civilization. We traded our dry bags for plush robes and spent the afternoon sinking into the luxury of their spa. It was the ultimate reward for the miles paddled.

To top it all off, we ended the evening in the bar. There’s something special about sipping a perfectly crafted cocktail, feeling that post-kayak glow, and reflecting on the vastness of the archipelago. From the rugged peace of the outer islands to the sophisticated warmth of the manor, it was the perfect three-day escape. My soul feels completely recharged.
